When AI can do everything, what can education still do?

The biggest problem with systematic education is not what it teaches, but the hidden message it sends: life has standard answers. In the real world, there are no standard answers, and often it is not even clear what the question is.

The things algorithms cannot see in education

The goal of education should be debated, not standardised. Different educational ideas should criticise and compete with one another, rather than using one standard to erase diversity. Once everyone optimises toward one metric, the things that cannot be measured are systematically ignored.

When the barrier to execution falls to zero

As technology drives the cost of execution toward zero, human value is no longer about how many tools you master. Judgment becomes the new code, and expression becomes the new means of production. Machines cannot create something from nothing. What stays scarce is the ability to ask a good question.

An AI lesson that starts by turning the AI off

In June we ran our first in-school pilot. The class built 22 working prototypes in one lesson, and those were the part we valued least. What mattered was recording the path each student took to get there: the judgement, not just the output.
